Travellers Aid brings volunteer help for train passengers to Bendigo

Travellers Aid has launched a volunteer service in Bendigo for people with a disability, seniors and anyone who needs extra help with public transport. Volunteers give wheelchair assistance and help with luggage, among other aid. Chief executive Elias Lebbos hopes it will encourage more residents to choose V/Line before they drive down the highway. Bendigo is the fourth regional location on the V/Line network to get the service. V/Line says the number of people taking its trains is 10-15 per cent higher than a couple of years ago.
Older passengers and people with a disability in Bendigo now have extra help on V/Line trains. V/Line chief executive Will Tieppo says that means more comfort and more safety.
