Our mission
HappyGood News is a volunteer community service. We publish short, plainly written reports about things that went right in the world, because the internet and social media reward outrage and we wanted one place that does not.
How stories are made
- We read the established positive-news publishers each morning to see what they are covering.
- For each story we find the original source: the press release, the university newsroom, the study, or the first outlet to report it.
- We write our own two or three sentence report from that original material, and link to it.
- We credit the publisher that put the story on our radar.
Reports are drafted by our newsroom software and reviewed by the team. If something is wrong, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it, credit you if you like, and note the correction.
Happy history
The sidebar lists uplifting events that happened on today's date in years past, drawn from Wikipedia and filtered to keep the discoveries, firsts, treaties and openings, and to leave out the wars and disasters.
Who we are
We are the small team behind DNA Romance, a genetics company in Vancouver, Canada. This site is not a product. It costs us a few hours a week and a domain name, and we think it is worth it. If it ever carries advertising, it will be a single quiet placement, never pop-ups, never autoplay, never between paragraphs.
