Guyra teen, 18, is youngest member of town Rotary Club

Eli Wood is 18, a year 12 student at Guyra Central School, and the youngest member of the Rotary Club of Guyra. His HSC exams are about to begin. Wood said regional charities and community organisations face an uncertain future unless they attract younger members. Rotary does more than raise money, he said, organising activities and events that bring people together. He pointed to its involvement in the Christmas parade, which he said brings "joy to the community" and gives people something to do in a small town.
Small towns like Guyra lean on volunteers to run events such as the Christmas parade, and Wood argues the groups behind them have an uncertain future without younger members.
