Leduc volunteers hang 700 homemade winter items on a school fence, and all are gone within days

On October 24, 700 homemade winter clothing items went up on the fence at Linsford Park Elementary School in Leduc. Within days, every one of them had been taken. Nearly 80 volunteers with Chase the Chill Leduc knitted and sewed the pieces. Anyone in need could take what they needed for free, and the event was meant to help people without housing and families in need. This was the first Chase the Chill held in Leduc.
Penny Carleton and Jeanette Ziesman organized the Leduc event.
Carleton thanked the volunteers and several local partners. “We are so grateful to all of our volunteers and the community support from Linsford Park School, Leduc and District Food bank, Best Copy Shop and Blackbird Knitting and Needlework,” she said. “Many people will have a warmer winter because of the efforts of our volunteers.”
Chase the Chill Leduc will now be held every year. Knitters and crocheters who want to contribute next year can email Carleton and Ziesman at [email protected].
People without housing and families in need in Leduc got free homemade winter clothing, and the event will return every year.
