Loreto pupils fund clean water well for village in Sierra Leone

Action4Schools Sierra Leone has completed a new water well in the village of Sackai in the Moyamba District of Sierra Leone. The project was delivered in partnership with UK charity WellFound and funded through money raised by pupils at Loreto Convent School during the last academic year. It is the 123rd water well completed by the charity since 2013.
The pupils raised £4,190. That sum covered the full cost of constructing the well and funded hernia operations for 10 children at Masanga Hospital.
A video from the village was made to thank the school for the donation. One woman said: "Before we walked long distances to get water, we were even worried for our children." The old water source was stagnant and dirty.
More than 800 residents in the village now have clean drinking water.
