Two boats rescued after both suffer engine trouble off Isle of Man coast

Two Port St Mary RNLI lifeboats were launched at 1.56pm on Sunday, October 11, after a small fishing vessel developed mechanical problems off Langness. Its anchor was dragging. A nearby speed boat took the fishing vessel under tow, but then developed engine problems itself, leaving both vessels in need of assistance. The lifeboats arrived nine minutes later, with seven and four volunteer crew members aboard respectively. The inshore lifeboat towed the fishing boat towards the harbour while the all-weather lifeboat towed the speed boat. Both boats were brought safely into Castletown Harbour. Two volunteers attended their first ever shouts.
Both Port St Mary RNLI lifeboats assisted two vessels after engine trouble left them in difficulty at sea.
