Two beavers named Steve and Terri Irwin arrive at Cornish Seal Sanctuary

The two beavers arrived at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary on Wednesday 24 September after care at Five Sisters Zoo. The young kits, a male orphan and an injured female, were cared for at a dedicated holding facility in West Caulder with specialist veterinary support from Dr Romain Pizzi. Their arrival marks another step in the Sanctuary’s ongoing partnership with Beaver Trust, supporting beaver conservation and reintroduction across mainland Britain. Their names honour Steve Irwin and Terri Irwin and their legacy in wildlife conservation and education.
As a keystone species, beavers’ natural activities can help create and maintain wetland habitats, benefiting a wide range of other wildlife.
