At the annual Wayne County Fair in Wooster, Ohio, sixteen-year-old high school sophomore Megan Albright donated the entire $14,200 proceeds from her Grand Champion market steer auction to support a local rural pediatric healthcare clinic on October 1, 2026.

Albright raised her crossbred steer, named Barnaby, from a young calf over fourteen months of meticulous daily care as part of her 4-H youth agricultural project. Rising before dawn each morning before school, she mixed specialized grain rations, exercised the steer, and groomed his coat to achieve peak showmanship standards.

When the final gavel struck at the fairgrounds livestock ring, local agricultural businesses joined forces in a competitive bidding pool to maximize the donation. "Barnaby taught me patience and responsibility every single morning," Albright said. "Donating this prize check ensures children in our rural county get the medical care they need without financial stress for their parents."

Clinic administrators announced that the teen's contribution will establish the Albright Pediatric Care Fund, directly financing preventative dental treatments, asthma inhalers, and eyeglasses for more than two hundred underserved children across the farming district.

Her selfless donation provides comprehensive pediatric healthcare and dental checkups to over two hundred underserved children.
