Male koala taken into care after rescue at Forresters Beach

A male koala found near a main road in suburban Forresters Beach was taken into care on Monday, October 5, after rescuers raised concerns about his condition and safety. Residents alerted wildlife carers and emergency services in a neighbourhood with many dogs. Experts assessed the animal as dehydrated and stressed before arborists helped bring him safely down. Council, Fire and Rescue NSW and National Parks staff assisted over the public holiday, alongside rescuers from WIRES, Wildlife ARC and Campfire Collective. Debbie Breen was thanked for co-ordinating the rescue and catching the koala. He will receive care while a suitable release location is considered.
Residents, wildlife carers, arborists and public agencies can all help protect suburban koalas from dogs and traffic, and the rescue shows it.
