Global Teacher Prize opens 2027 nominations with broader eligibility worldwide

The Varkey Foundation's $1 million Global Teacher Prize has opened nominations for 2027, with more educators eligible than at any point in the award's eleven-year history. For the first time, digital educators, leaders of education programmes, and teachers working in refugee and non-formal settings may apply alongside classroom teachers, the foundation said. The annual prize, established in 2014, recognises exceptional teachers who have made a significant impact on their students and communities. Nominations are free.
A global stage once closed to them is now open. Teachers in refugee camps, online classrooms, and community programmes can step onto it.
