A 20-minute walk nearly doubled bowel sounds in a small study

Twenty minutes of easy walking appeared to jolt the gut into action, according to a study in Scientific Reports. Fujita Health University researchers used an electronic stethoscope to record bowel sounds in 21 healthy young adults. Their intensity nearly doubled within minutes. Bowel sounds form as contractions move gas and liquid through the gut, and that fast response could help explain why a short walk sometimes eases constipation.
