Stranger's fundraiser helps 81-year-old luggage courier
Don Johnson is 81 and drives hundreds of miles some days, delivering delayed airport luggage to homes as an independent contractor. He asked for extra hours and now often works 14-hour shifts. During one delivery, a stranger heard his story and started a fundraiser. It has already raised thousands of dollars for Johnson and his wife. "You just have to get that grit and prayer and go through and get to the other side," Johnson said. "It takes you a moment to adjust, but then you just carry on."
Johnson and his wife get financial help after years of demanding work, at an age when nearly 1 in 5 Americans are still in the workforce or looking for it, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
