Puppy sniffs out £6,000 in gold coins on first Blackpool walk
Ollie, a lagotto romagnolo puppy, dug up 15 sovereign gold coins worth nearly £6,000 on his first walk through fields near Blackpool. Some of the coins date to the 19th century. Adam Clark, 51, had bought the dog as a surprise for his nine-year-old daughter, Alicia. "We'd literally been walking for around ten minutes," Clark said. "Ollie started frantically digging and uncovered the pile of gold pieces. I couldn't quite believe it." Clark said the find was one thing, but he had also gained his own gold hunter, and could not wait to take Ollie out again.
The family walked away with an unexpected £6,000 windfall, and Clark discovered his new puppy has a nose for treasure as well as company on his walks.
