Bronx Zoo shows off new snow leopard cub born May 31

The Bronx Zoo put a female snow leopard cub on public view on September 30, 2026. Born May 31 to parents Dari and Moutig, she has passed her physical exams and routine vaccinations, and she is doing well. Visitors can see her exploring the Himalayan Highlands habitat. Her birth brings the zoo's snow leopard total to eight, the Wildlife Conservation Society said. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature lists the species as Vulnerable to extinction.
An estimated 5,000 to 7,000 snow leopards remain in the wild across Asia. The Wildlife Conservation Society works to protect them through breeding at its zoos and fieldwork in their range.
