Glasshouse Christian College Year 5 students take Gold at Ethics Olympiad

Glasshouse Christian College Year 5 students won Gold at the 2026 Junior Schools Ethics Olympiad. Competing for the first time, Laci, Hugo, Dorothy, Alex and Alana faced teams from schools across Australia and international competitors from New Zealand. Judges praised their ability to listen carefully, respectfully challenge ideas and build thoughtful, structured arguments. The competition covered questions including whether e-sports should be considered a sport and whether there is such a thing as a “white lie”. Students were assessed on the quality of their reasoning, discussion and engagement with others, rather than on finding a single “right” answer.
The result shows that ethical discussion can teach students to think deeply, listen carefully and weigh other perspectives. For the GCC students, that learning was the real win. The Gold medal was a bonus.
