GlamourGals teen volunteers visit seniors nationwide, offering company and free makeovers
GlamourGals volunteers, high school and college students, are visiting senior care facilities nationwide to spend time with residents and give free beauty makeovers. The nonprofit pairs young volunteers with older adults year-round to ease social isolation. "We believe in carrying the mission forward, one generation to the next," the foundation said. GlamourGals has run for 25 years and says its volunteer base is growing to 5,000 this year.
Senior residents in care homes get company and a confidence boost, while the teen volunteers build empathy and leadership skills.
