Koch and Meir completed the first all-woman spacewalk

On 18 October 2019, NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir completed the first spacewalk conducted entirely by women.

Koch and Meir spent seven hours and 17 minutes outside the International Space Station. Their main task was replacing a failed battery charge-discharge unit, which regulates power collected by the station's solar arrays.

Mission control activated the replacement and confirmed that it worked. The astronauts also completed preparation work for an external European Space Agency payload platform.
